Perform Pind daan in Gaya Pitrupaksha 2022

Gaya is considered to be the most auspicious place for performing pind daan. Gaya is believed to be the city of Lord Vishnu. The land of Gaya is said to be the land of moksha. According to Garuda Purana, each step taken towards the city of Gaya marks the last steps taken towards heaven.

As per Garuda Purana, performing pind daan after the cremation and asthi visarjan of a family member or a loved one, is a very important rite. This last rite is performed by the son to provide salvation to the departed soul and make it go to the vaikunth dham.

Pind daan in Gaya is being performed over the bank of the phalgu river for the ancestors to offer them sadgati ( the next stage of prosperity).
