Pind Daan can be performed in Haridwar throughout the year on any day deemed suitable by consulting a Pandit for an auspicious time (muhurat). However, the most auspicious period is Pitru Paksha, a 16-lunar day period (usually falling in September/October) specifically dedicated to ancestor worship. Performing the ritual during this time is believed to be highly effective as ancestors are thought to descend to Earth to receive offerings. Amavasya (new moon day) is also considered very suitable.
