Can Tulsi Vivah be performed at home without a pandit?

Answered by Prakhar Porwal ·

Yes, Tulsi Vivah can be performed at home by family members without a pandit — and the scriptures state that the punya (spiritual merit) is the same, provided the correct intention (sankalpa) and core mantras are observed. For a home ceremony, the family needs: a Tulsi plant in a clean pot, a small image or idol of Vishnu (or a Shaligram stone), turmeric, kumkum, flowers, a red cloth as the “wedding sari,” sugarcane stumps, and sweets for prasad. The performer recites the Sankalpa, decorates Tulsi as a bride, performs the symbolic kanyadaan, and conducts an evening ceremony with aarti. For families that want the full Skanda Purana vidhi with trained Vedic pandits, we offer home Tulsi Vivah arrangements.
