Ganga Aarti

What is the timing of the Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri, Haridwar?

Answered by Prakhar Porwal ·

The Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri, Haridwar takes place twice daily: the morning aarti starts at approximately 5:30 AM (Summer) / 6:00 AM (Winter) and lasts about 30 minutes, and the evening aarti — the main attraction — starts at sunset: approximately 6:30 PM (Summer) / 5:30 PM (Winter), lasting 45 minutes to 1 hour. Timing varies by season and official sunset. The evening aarti is performed by the priests of the Ganga Sabha, with hundreds of diyas floating on the Ganga, synchronised bell ringing, conch blowing, Sanskrit mantras, and the final Ganga Aarti using massive brass lamps. It is considered one of the most visually and spiritually powerful Hindu rituals in India.
