Traditional methods for safely activating the Ajna Chakra include: (1) Daily meditation focusing on the space between the eyebrows (Trataka on a candle flame is the classical preparation), (2) Pranayama — specifically Bhramari (humming breath) and Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) to balance the nervous system, (3) Chanting the bija mantra “OM” or the specific Ajna mantra “OM Aing” with deep focus, (4) Shambhavi Mudra — gazing at the third eye point during meditation, (5) Wearing indigo or deep blue (the colour of the Ajna chakra), (6) Reading sacred texts like the Upanishads and reflecting on non-dual wisdom, (7) Seva (selfless service) to purify the ego which blocks the Ajna. Caution: avoid forcing activation through extreme practices or psychoactive substances — these can destabilise mental health and cause spiritual bypassing.
