How does pilgrimage to Prayagraj relate to the Sahasrara Chakra?

Answered by Prakhar Porwal ·

Prayagraj is the Tirthraj — the king of all sacred pilgrimage places — partly because it embodies the spiritual qualities of the highest chakras in physical geography. The Triveni Sangam mirrors the internal Triveni where Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna meet at the Ajna — the gateway to the Sahasrara. Performing sacred rites at Prayagraj — Pind Daan, Tarpan, Asthi Visarjan, or simply bathing at the Sangam while chanting — creates powerful conditions for the consciousness to touch the Sahasrara quality: the dissolution of the individual into the universal, the recognition of the sacred in all of existence.
