Why did Yudhishthira go to Gaya for Pind Daan after the Kurukshetra war?

Gaya was already established as the supreme tirtha for Pind Daan in the tradition described during the tirtha yatra sections of the Vana Parva. The Vishnupad Temple at Gaya and the Falgu River were considered the most potent sites for liberating ancestral souls. By choosing Gaya for his post-war ancestral rites, Yudhishthira fulfilled his dharmic obligation at the highest level and reinforced Gayas canonical supremacy for future pilgrims.
