Can women perform Shradh ceremony?

Yes. While the traditional primary responsibility falls to the eldest son, daughters can and do perform Shradh for their parents when no male heir exists. The Devi Bhagavata Purana and Skanda Purana both explicitly permit daughters to perform ancestral rites. A wife can perform Shradh for her husband’s ancestors in his absence. In our practice, we regularly arrange Shradh ceremonies for daughters and granddaughters of departed parents, and the ceremony is fully valid.
