How many ancestors are included in one Tharpanam session?

A standard Tharpanam includes three generations on the paternal side (father, grandfather, great-grandfather) and their wives — six ancestors in total. The full Ashtakavarga Tharpanam extends to maternal grandfather’s line as well, covering up to 14 ancestors. During Mahalaya Paksha, some families perform Tharpanam for all departed ancestors across all generations.
