What are the different types of Banarasi sarees?

Answered by Prakhar Porwal ·

The main types are: Katan (pure mulberry silk, the most prestigious), Kora/Organza (semi-sheer and crisp, ideal for summer), Georgette (textured and drapeable), and Shattir (shot-silk effect, lighter weight). Within these fabric types, further classification by design technique includes Kadhua (finest, no floating threads), Tanchoi (satin base with extra weft), Jangla (scrolling vegetation motifs), and by brocade intensity including Kimkhwab (gold-dominant).
