How many generations of ancestors should be honoured in Saptami Shradh?
In traditional Shradh practice, three generations of paternal ancestors are honoured: father (or the recently deceased), grandfather, and great-grandfather. This is called Traipaushika Shradh. However, on the specific tithi day like Saptami, the primary focus is on the ancestor who passed away on that tithi. If multiple ancestors across generations died on Saptami, all of them can be included in the Sankalp and separate pinda offerings can be made for each.
