Are there additional rituals for Chaturdashi Shradh compared to other Shradh days?
Yes, Chaturdashi Shradh often includes supplementary rituals not found on other Pitrupaksha days. Because this day addresses unnatural or violent deaths, a Shanti Puja (peace ceremony) is typically performed alongside the standard Tarpan and Pind Daan. Some families also perform Narayan Bali or Nag Bali in conjunction with Chaturdashi Shradh to release the soul from the trauma of its death. An additional Tarpan offering may be made to Yama Deva (lord of death) seeking safe passage for the departed. These extra elements make it advisable to perform Chaturdashi Shradh under an experienced pandit’s guidance.
