Can Shradh be performed at home instead of at a holy site?

Yes, Shradh performed at home with genuine faith (shraddha) is fully valid and honoured in the scriptures. The Dharma Shastras acknowledge that not everyone can travel to a tirtha. However, the texts also state clearly that the same rituals performed at a sacred tirtha — especially Prayagraj — generate spiritual merit many times greater than home-based performance. If visiting a tirtha is at all possible, it is strongly recommended.
