Can women perform Snan at sacred tirthas and participate in rituals?

उत्तर दिया Prakhar Porwal ·

Yes. Scriptures including the Garuda Purana, Matsya Purana, and the Skanda Purana explicitly include women in sacred Snan rituals. The Dharma Shastras state that Ganga Snan purifies women and men equally. In modern practice, women freely bathe at Triveni Sangam, Har Ki Pauri, Manikarnika Ghat, and all major tirthas. During Kumbh Mela, female devotees participate in Shahi Snan alongside men (though in designated safer sections). Some regional traditions previously restricted women during menstruation from temple entry, but this did not apply to Ganga Snan which was always permitted. Our pandits guide women through the complete Snan and ancestral ritual sequence with full scriptural authority — including the appropriate mantras for female performers.
