How far in advance should we book for Pitrupaksha Shradh?

For Pitrupaksha (September–October), book the ritual package at least 2–3 months in advance and flights at least 6–8 weeks ahead. Pitrupaksha is the single busiest period for NRI pilgrimages — pandits at Gaya, Prayagraj, and Varanasi are fully booked weeks before the fortnight begins, accommodation prices rise sharply, and flights to Varanasi, Patna, and Prayagraj sell out early. For any other time of year, 2–4 weeks notice is generally sufficient.
