Is it safe to carry ashes on a flight from Malaysia to India?

उत्तर दिया Prakhar Porwal ·

Yes, it is legally permissible to carry human cremated remains (ashes) on international flights. Most airlines allow ashes as carry-on baggage (not checked luggage) when accompanied by a death certificate, cremation certificate, and a letter from a funeral home or temple confirming the religious nature of the remains. Place the ashes in an airtight, sealed container — preferably metal rather than ceramic. At Indian customs, declare the remains honestly and present your documentation. Prayag Pandits can provide a guidance letter if needed. It is advisable to confirm the specific policy with your airline at least 72 hours before your flight.
