What information do I need to provide about the deceased?

For the Sankalp (ritual declaration), our pandit requires: the full name of the deceased, their Gotra (ancestral lineage), father’s name, mother’s name, date of death, cause of death, and the name of the Karta (principal performer of the rite, typically the eldest son or nearest living male relative). If the Gotra is unknown, our pandit can use a standard substitute — please mention this to us.
