When is the best time for Tarpan at Garh Mukteshwar?
Tarpan at Garh Mukteshwar can be performed year-round, but these periods carry enhanced merit:
Pitrupaksha (September–October) — The most powerful 16-day period. Each tithi is dedicated to specific ancestors. Thousands of Delhi-NCR families gather at Brij Ghat during this fortnight.
Monthly Amavasya — Every new moon day is suitable for Tarpan. Somvati Amavasya (Monday new moon) is especially powerful.
Death anniversary Tithi — Annual Tarpan on the lunar date of the ancestor’s passing is a primary observance.
Kartik Mela — The annual Kartik fair at Garh Mukteshwar (October–November) draws pilgrims for additional ancestral merit.
