When is the best time to perform Gau Daan?

The most auspicious times for Gau Daan — especially for ancestral benefit — are Pitrupaksha (the 16-day fortnight in September-October), Amavasya (new moon days each month), during Pind Daan or Shradh ceremonies, and at the time of a family member’s last rites. Gau Daan can be performed at any time of year for personal spiritual merit.
