Who should perform Dwadashi Shradh?

Dwadashi Shradh should be performed by families whose ancestor departed on the 12th lunar day (Dwadashi Tithi) of any month. It is also the prescribed Shradh for ancestors who had taken formal sannyasa (renunciation) before their death, regardless of their actual death tithi.
