All Asthi visarjan

Which day is best for Asthi Visarjan at Prayagraj?

Answered by Prakhar Porwal ·

Any day is scripturally valid, but certain days carry exceptional merit at Prayagraj. Amavasya (especially Mauni Amavasya, Somvati Amavasya, Mahalaya Amavasya), Purnima, Makar Sankranti, and all days during Pitrupaksha are considered especially auspicious. Mondays (Shiva’s day), Thursdays (Brihaspati’s day), and Ekadashi days are also recommended. Per Yama cited in the Nirnayasindhu, Sundays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays should be avoided for bone handling if possible — but when the 10-day window is urgent, timeliness takes priority. For delayed Asthi Visarjan, we can choose the most auspicious date based on your family’s nakshatra and the departed soul’s tithi.
