What is the difference between Dev Deepawali and regular Diwali?

Human Diwali is celebrated on the new moon of Kartik, fifteen days before Kartik Purnima. Dev Deepawali, observed on Kartik Purnima, is the Diwali of the gods — celebrated to commemorate Lord Shiva’s victory over the demon Tripurasura. While human Diwali celebrates the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya and the worship of Goddess Lakshmi, Dev Deepawali celebrates Shiva’s cosmic victory and is marked primarily by lamp offering and sacred bathing rather than fireworks.
