How far is Kurukshetra from Delhi and how do I reach it?
Kurukshetra is approximately 170 km from Delhi, making it one of the most accessible major Pitru Tirthas for Delhi-NCR families.
By road: 3–4 hours via NH-44 (the Delhi–Ambala National Highway). The route passes through Panipat and Karnal. Self-drive, taxi (₹3,000–₹5,000 one-way), and bus services are all available.
By train: Kurukshetra Junction (KKDE) is well-connected with multiple daily trains from New Delhi, Old Delhi, and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations. Journey time is 2.5–3.5 hours depending on the train.
Nearest airport: Chandigarh International Airport, approximately 90 km from Kurukshetra (1.5–2 hours by road).
A single-day trip from Delhi is entirely feasible: depart by 6 AM, arrive Kurukshetra by 9–10 AM, complete the Pind Daan ceremony at Sannihit Sarovar (1.5–2 hours), and return to Delhi by evening. Prayag Pandits can arrange local coordination at Kurukshetra.
