All Pind Daan

How many generations of ancestors can be included in a single Pind Daan ceremony?

Answered by Prakhar Porwal ·

A standard Pind Daan ceremony covers three generations of paternal ancestors — father, paternal grandfather, and paternal great-grandfather — along with the corresponding three generations of maternal ancestors when specifically requested. Special extended ceremonies can include up to seven generations. During Pitrupaksha, some families choose to include all known departed ancestors by name. Discuss your specific requirements with your pandit during the pre-ceremony consultation.
