How often should Pind Daan be performed in Varanasi?

At minimum, annual observance during Pitrupaksha is strongly recommended. Many families also perform Pind Daan on the death anniversary (tithi) of each ancestor and on Amavasya (new moon) days. Those with specific Pitru Dosha concerns may be advised by a learned pandit to perform the rites more frequently — monthly for a period, or at multiple Tirthas such as both Varanasi and Gaya.
