What are the scriptural benefits of performing Pind Daan specifically at Gaya?

The benefits promised by the Puranas for Gaya Pind Daan are exceptional: (1) Liberation of seven generations (Sapta Pitri) — father, grandfather, great-grandfather through both paternal and maternal lines, (2) Breaking the cycle of rebirth for unmarked ancestors whose names are lost, (3) Removal of Pitra Dosh from the family chart, (4) Attainment of Moksha for souls trapped in Preta or Pishacha Yoni, (5) Blessings of prosperity and progeny for the performer’s family, (6) Spiritual merit equivalent to performing a thousand home Shraddhas. The Agni Purana specifically states that even reaching Gaya (let alone performing Pind Daan) is spiritually equivalent to performing thousands of pilgrimages to other sacred sites.
