What happens to the body after death at Kashi Mukti Bhawan?

After a guest passes away at Kashi Mukti Bhawan, the institution’s staff assists the family in carrying the body to Manikarnika Ghat — the sacred burning ghat of Varanasi that has been in continuous operation for thousands of years. The body is cremated in the traditional Hindu manner using the sacred fire of Manikarnika. The ashes and bone fragments are then immersed in the Ganga in the ritual of Asthi Visarjan, completing the journey from life to liberation.
