What is the 15-day rule at Kashi Mukti Bhawan?

Answered by Prakhar Porwal ·

Guests at Kashi Mukti Bhawan are given a room for a maximum of 15 days. If they have not died naturally within this period, they are asked to vacate the room for the next waiting guest. This rule exists because the institution has limited rooms and serves a large number of genuinely dying pilgrims. The institution is not a long-term hospice for chronic illness management — it is specifically for those in the final days or hours of their life. Most guests die within a few days of arrival.
