What is the significance of performing Pind Daan at Triveni Sangam, Prayagraj?

Prayagraj’s Triveni Sangam is described in the Puranas as Tirtharaj — the King of all sacred confluences. The merging of the Ganga (from Lord Shiva’s locks), the Yamuna (daughter of the Sun god and sister of Yama, lord of death), and the invisible Saraswati (goddess of wisdom) creates a uniquely powerful spiritual field. Pind Daan performed here is said to grant liberation (Moksha) to ancestors through many generations, and even the Rig Veda states that sins committed elsewhere are erased at Prayag.
