What is the significance of Sarva Pitru Amavasya? Is it more important than the individual tithis?

Sarva Pitru Amavasya (October 10, 2026) is the most important single day of Pitrupaksha. On this day, Shradh can be performed for ALL ancestors simultaneously, regardless of their individual tithis of death. It is particularly important for families who: do not know the exact tithi of an ancestor’s death; missed performing Shradh on the correct individual tithi; or wish to perform a comprehensive Shradh for all deceased family members at once. It is also called Mahalaya Amavasya and is the final day when the period of maximum ancestral presence concludes.
