Can I perform Pitrupaksha rituals at home, or must I go to a sacred site?

Shradh rituals can be performed at home with a pandit, near any river or water body, or at a sacred tirtha. The scriptures confirm that the sincerity of the ritual (shraddha — faith) is the primary factor, not the physical location. However, performing Pind Daan and Tarpan at a sacred site like Prayagraj, Gaya, Varanasi, or Badrinath is believed to multiply the merit many times over.
