What was Vrinda’s curse to Lord Vishnu after the deception?

When Vrinda realised she had been deceived, she angrily cursed Vishnu: “O wicked one, being ruthless you are like a rock. Hence due to my curse you will become a rock.” Lord Shiva decreed that because of her curse, Vishnu would assume the form of a sacred stone on the banks of the Gandaki river in Bharata. These stones — carved with discus-like markings by the river’s sharp-toothed organisms — became famous as Shaligram stones, which are worshipped as direct manifestations of Vishnu. Every Shaligram stone carries the memory of Vrinda’s curse and Vishnu’s acceptance of her condemnation as a mark of his love and humility.
