Asthi Visarjan & Immersion

When is the best time for Asthi Visarjan at Kurukshetra-Pehowa?

Answered by ·

Asthi Visarjan at Kurukshetra-Pehowa can be performed year-round, with these periods carrying enhanced merit:

Pitrupaksha (September–October) — The supreme 16-day ancestral rites period. Pehowa’s ghats see their highest pilgrim activity during this time.

Solar eclipse days — Kurukshetra has a unique scriptural connection with solar eclipses. The Mahabharata associates enormous merit with rituals performed at Kurukshetra during eclipses.

Somvati Amavasya — Monday new moon days are particularly auspicious for ancestral offerings at Sannihit Sarovar.

October to March is the most comfortable period for travel. Haryana summers (April–June) can exceed 45°C.

The Sarasvati at Pehowa typically has the best visible water flow during and after the monsoon (August–October), coinciding with Pitrupaksha season.
