Common questions
How is the ceremony arranged?
Book your preferred date and time slot. You will receive confirmation by email, and the coordinator’s contact details will be shared 24 hours before your arrival. The coordinator helps you meet pandit ji at the ghat and supports you through the ceremony and return to the ghat.
What do we need to bring?
Bring the Asthi Kalash tightly wrapped in a clean white cloth, along with the full name and gotra of the deceased person. Bring your clothes as well. Your booking covers the charges necessary for the full ceremony as listed in the inclusions, including pandit ji’s charges and samagri. If you wish, you may also bring daan items for pandit ji, Brahmins or people in need. This is entirely your choice.
Who stays in touch with us after booking?
Our team will contact you after booking to confirm your arrival plans and other details. You will receive the contact details of the ground team, coordinator or pandit ji 24 hours before arrival.
Where will we meet pandit ji?
The meeting ghat and directions are coordinated with you by phone. The coordinator helps you reach the ghat area and meet pandit ji.
What happens when we reach the ghat?
When you reach the ghat area, you will meet pandit ji, who will have the pooja items ready. Pandit ji will explain the process, and you will sit together at the ghat, where the arrangements are ready for you. You then board the private boat, where the arrangements are ready for you to participate in the pooja. Coordination support continues from the ghat meeting through your return to the ghat.
What does this package cost?
The total shown in the booking area includes applicable tax and all services listed in the package inclusions. There are no hidden charges for the listed services; extra charges apply only to services outside those inclusions. Please ask about the amount before requesting anything additional.
What is included, and is Pind Daan part of the package?
The package covers the charges for pandit ji, pooja materials, arrangements and the private boat. Included rites are Asthi Visarjan, Sankalp, Tarpan and Sangam Poojan, with local coordination. Pind Daan is a separate service. One booking covers one deceased person.
What should we wear?
New or clean white or light-coloured traditional clothes are recommended, but not mandatory. Men may wear a white dhoti, gamcha and baniyan, or a white kurta and pyjama. Women may wear a plain, light-coloured saree or salwar kameez; white is preferred.
How do we reach the pooja location?
You can reach the meeting area by local auto or cab. Our ground team can help with directions and arrangements. We operate our own private AC cabs, available at an additional charge.
How long does it take, and when can we start?
The ritual takes around 30–45 minutes. In normal weather conditions, allow about 2–2.5 hours including the boat journey from the ghat to Triveni Sangam and back to the ghat. Poojas usually begin from 6 am, with the last pooja starting between 2 and 3 pm. The ceremony must finish before sunset.
Do we need to do snan?
Snan at Triveni Sangam is auspicious and should be done. If snan is not possible, sprinkle Sangam water on your head and body.
Can you arrange a naai for hair cutting?
Our ground team or coordinator arranges a naai for cutting hair at the ghat area or boat. The naai’s charges are separate and will be explained in advance when you ask.
How can we arrange cabs or autos for our arrival?
Autos are generally available throughout the city, including Prayagraj Junction, Prayag Junction, Naini Railway Station, Cheoki Railway Station and the bus stands. You can also hire an auto easily if you are staying in Civil Lines. As the airport is far from the pooja area and hotels, a cab is preferable. Please contact us in advance if you need help arranging one. We operate our own private AC cabs, which cost extra in addition to your pooja package. We also have dedicated pooja packages with hotel stays and AC cabs, including the Asthi Visarjan in Prayagraj 1-night/2-day package. Contact the team for its booking details.
Can we arrange daan or a donation ceremony?
Please tell us in advance if you would like a donation ceremony. Our ground team makes the arrangements for Brahmin Bhoj, Vastra Daan and Anna Daan; you only need to participate. Contact us beforehand for the details and any additional charges.
We are arriving early. Can someone meet us?
If you arrive before 6 am, please wait at the airport or the station’s retiring room, or go to your hotel if you have arranged early check-in. Our ground team is available from 6 am and can assist you by phone. If needed, a coordinator may meet and receive you at the station at this time, subject to availability. Please tell us 3 days in advance if you need this assistance. Requests made after arrival are subject to our decision.
This is our first visit. Who will help us?
You will meet our coordinator at the pooja location and stay in touch by phone. After arriving at the station or airport, please reach the pooja area according to your chosen time slot. If you face any difficulty or have any concerns, contact us for help.
Is the boat private, and how many people can join?
The boat is private and accommodates up to 4 family members. Additional family members must either book another boat at an extra charge or wait at their hotel or the ghat for the full ceremony and boat-journey duration.
Is the pooja performed privately for our family?
Pandit ji performs the pooja privately for your booked family, covering one deceased person. We do not provide group pooja services.
Can we request a pandit who speaks our language?
In Prayagraj, we currently have pandits who speak Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Odia. For any other language, please contact us in advance to enquire; this does not confirm its availability. Pandit availability may change, and must be confirmed in advance. Please note that the full ritual vidhi is not performed in your native language.
Can we arrange temple visits or sightseeing?
We are a tour company registered with Uttar Pradesh Tourism. Our own tourism department arranges sightseeing, 3-star, 4-star and 5-star hotel stays, private cabs and professional guides. These services cost extra; please contact us in advance, as guides are subject to availability. Share your plans, such as Triveni Sangam, boating, Akshaywat Temple darshan, Lete Hanuman Temple or Alopidevi Temple, and ask for a complete quote.

Asthi Visarjan in Prayagraj at Triveni Sangam
Asthi Visarjan is the immersion of the ashes and bone remains left after cremation in sacred water. For a family bringing a loved one’s asthi to Prayagraj, the ceremony is a way to honour the departed through prayer and a rite held dear across generations. The place, the offerings and the family’s participation each have a part in this observance.
At Triveni Sangam, the Ganga and Yamuna meet visibly, while the Saraswati is revered in Hindu tradition as the unseen third river. This meeting of rivers gives Prayagraj its particular place among the tirthas, or sacred places of pilgrimage. Families come here with the asthi of a loved one to perform the immersion in the waters of the Sangam.
This in-person service takes your family to Sangam by private boat, with a pandit conducting the ceremony. The focus is Asthi Visarjan and the rites included in this package. Pind Daan is a separate ceremony and is not included. This distinction helps families choose the observances they intend to perform without treating different ancestral rites as interchangeable.
The religious significance of Prayagraj
Prayagraj’s importance is described in several Puranic accounts. The Padma Purana praises Prayaga as a sacred place and names the Ganga, Yamuna and Sarasvati. This account helps explain why the confluence holds such meaning for pilgrims and families performing ancestral observances.
The Padma Purana also praises the presence of a departed person’s bones in the Ganga and associates it with the departed being honoured in heaven. These verses express the reverence for the Ganga that underlies the practice of bringing a loved one’s asthi to its waters.
In the Agni Purana, ancestral rites, charity and prayer at Prayaga are described as bearing enduring merit. Together, these passages place the family’s act within a tradition of remembrance, offering and reverence for the departed.
