Can Pind Daan be performed for someone who committed suicide?

Suicide is classified as Durmaran (unnatural death) by the Garuda Purana, and the soul of a suicide victim is believed to be particularly trapped in the Antariksha state. Standard Pind Daan alone is NOT sufficient for souls who died by suicide — the Garuda Purana explicitly states that Narayan Bali must be performed FIRST to cleanse the taint, and only then can Pind Daan be offered to the soul effectively. Many families delay ancestral rites for suicide victims out of social stigma or confusion, but this prolongs the soul’s suffering. The correct scriptural sequence is: (1) Narayan Bali Puja to release the soul from Durmaran trapped state, (2) Pind Daan at Gaya or Prayagraj for ancestral liberation, (3) Annual Shraddha observed on the death tithi.
