Haridwar

Does it snow in Haridwar?

Answered by Prakhar Porwal ·

Haridwar itself does not receive snowfall. At an elevation of around 314 metres, it is too low for snow. However, the Siwalik Hills immediately behind the city occasionally see frost in the coldest nights of January. The higher Himalayan ranges visible from Haridwar (particularly on clear winter days) are snow-capped, adding to the visual grandeur of the city. For snow, Mussoorie (77 km) and Nainital (120 km) are accessible day trips or overnight excursions.
