What is the climate in Haridwar in winter?

Haridwar’s winter (November to February) is cold, particularly in the mornings and evenings. Temperatures range from 2–4°C at night to 16–20°C in the afternoon. January is the coldest month, coinciding with the Magh Mela when pilgrims brave the icy Ganga for holy dips. Heavy woolens including thermal underlayers, fleece, and a down jacket are essential. Despite the cold, winter is one of the most spiritually active and rewarding seasons in Haridwar.
