Haridwar

When does Kumbh Mela take place in Haridwar?

Answered by Prakhar Porwal ·

Haridwar hosts the Kumbh Mela every twelve years, with a Ardh Kumbh Mela every six years. The Kumbh Mela is held when Jupiter enters Aquarius (Kumbha) and the sun enters Aries (Mesha). The gathering brings tens of millions of pilgrims to Har ki Pauri for the sacred Shahi Snan (royal bath) on specific auspicious dates. Even in non-Kumbh years, Haridwar hosts the Kanwar Mela every Shravan month, attracting millions of Kanwariyas.
