When is Haridwar crowded and when is it relatively quiet?

Haridwar is most crowded during: the Magh Mela (January–February), Kumbh or Ardha Kumbh years, Navratri (October), and the Kanwar Yatra (July). The quietest periods are December (early winter, pre-Magh Mela), early September (late monsoon, post-Kanwar Yatra), and May–June before the main monsoon floods. If you prefer a less crowded visit, December and early March are excellent choices — you still experience the full spiritual atmosphere of Haridwar without the peak festival crowds.
