How it works

A group Shradh Pooja, performed with private care

A single, collective Shradh Pooja at Gaya — within it, every family's ancestors are named in turn, one after another.

1

Reserve your seat

One seat per family. Enter the Karta's name and up to 5 ancestors with their relation.

2

We confirm on WhatsApp

Your seat and sankalp details are confirmed, and we clarify the gotra if you're unsure.

3

The shradh pooja is performed

On the day, the Gayawal pandit ji begins the shradh pooja. When the names are taken, pandit ji — with a pratinidhi seated as the karta — performs the shradh karm for each family in turn: your ancestors, then the next family's, one after another, until all are honoured.

4

Video within 72 hours

The full ceremony recording and photos are sent to you within 72 hours of performing.

Your reassurance

How your ancestors are honoured — even from afar

When you cannot travel to Gaya, the shradh pooja is still performed in your name and gotra. A pratinidhi, seated beside the pandit as the karta, offers the shradh karm on your family's behalf — and your ancestors are named individually, exactly as you list them.

Named by your gotra & sankalp

The pandit takes the sankalp in your family's name, gotra and relation — what the scriptures hold carries the offering to your own ancestors.

At Gaya, by the Gayawal pandits

Performed by the hereditary Gayawal priests on the sacred ground of Gaya — the place the shastras prescribe for the ancestral rites.

Your family, named in turn

In the group shradh pooja each family's ancestors are recited one after another — yours are never merged into a crowd.

★★★★★

"The online poojan option is great for people living abroad. We could participate from our home in the UK. The video was clear and the pandit made us feel included in every step of the ceremony."

Not a name on a list. In the shradh pooja, every ancestor is named aloud — by gotra, by relation, in turn.

Each family's ancestors are recited one after another — a limited sangha means your family's shradh is never rushed.

About the place

Why Shradh at Gaya

Of all the tirthas for the ancestral rites, Gaya is the foremost. The Vayu Purana's Gaya Mahatmya extols this sacred ground — where Lord Vishnu's footprint rests and the Phalgu flows beside it — as the place where the shradh frees the ancestors from the wandering state and carries them to peace.

Performed by the Gayawal pandits, the hereditary priests of Gaya, the shradh here repays a family's debt to its forefathers. To offer the shradh pooja for your ancestors at Gaya — by name, by gotra — is among the most complete offerings a family can make during Pitru Paksha.

Questions

Common questions

Is this a group or a private ceremony?

It is a group Shradh Pooja, performed together with other devotees at Gaya — which is what keeps each seat affordable. Within the shared pooja, each family's ancestors are recited individually, in turn, by the gotra and relation you enter at booking.

Do I need to travel to Gaya or attend in person?

No — this is an online service. The Shradh Pooja is performed on your behalf at Gaya by the pandit and pratinidhi; you do not travel or attend. The complete ceremony is video-recorded and the recording, with photos, is sent to you within 72 hours as your proof.

How does the group shradh pooja work?

Pandit ji begins the shradh pooja, and when the names are taken, pandit ji — with a pratinidhi seated as the karta — performs the shradh karm for each booked family one after another, naming every family's ancestors by gotra and relation, until all are honoured, before the pooja concludes.

How many ancestors can I add to one seat?

Up to 5 ancestors per seat. For each, add the full name and their relation to the Karta, and they will be named in the sankalp.

Who should be the Karta?

The Karta is the family member in whose name the shradh is offered — traditionally a son or close descendant. A pratinidhi performs the shradh karm on your behalf at Gaya; you enter the Karta's name, and the ancestors are listed by their relation to the Karta.

Will I get proof of the ceremony?

Yes — the full ceremony is video-recorded, and the recording, along with photos, is sent to you within 72 hours of performing.

What if I don't know my gotra?

Leave it as "Kashyap (default)" — prescribed by the shastras when the family gotra is unknown. Pandit ji confirms it during the sankalp.
