If your family lives in Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur or elsewhere in Madhya Pradesh and wants Pind Daan performed in Gaya during Pitru Paksha, travel is not the only option. Prayag Pandits now offers a fixed-date Online Group Pind Daan in Gaya in which the ceremony is performed on your family’s behalf in Gaya, with a separate sankalp and a complete video recording shared within 72 hours.

Quick answer: You do not travel to Gaya or attend the ceremony live. You choose one of three 2026 tithis, provide the Karta and ancestor details during booking, and the assigned pandit and pratinidhi perform the pooja in Gaya for your family. One booking covers one family and up to five ancestors.

Why Madhya Pradesh families look toward Gaya

Madhya Pradesh already has important sacred centres, especially Ujjain. Yet many families specifically wish to fulfil a Gaya sankalp because Gaya is closely associated with ancestral rites at the Falgu River and Vishnupad Temple. Bihar Tourism describes Vishnupad as a major place for Pind Daan and connects the tradition with Lord Rama’s visit to Gaya for his father, King Dasharatha. Families should still follow their own kul parampara and the guidance of their family purohit when deciding the place and tithi.

For a family in Indore, Bhopal or Jabalpur, an in-person Gaya journey can require several days, advance reservations and care for elderly family members. The group format is intended for families that have chosen Gaya but cannot travel or attend in person during the available Pitru Paksha dates.

Official background: Bihar Tourism’s Vishnupad Temple guide.

Online group does not mean one common family sankalp

The word “group” describes the booking format: several families reserve the same auspicious date. Your family information is not merged with another booking. Each booked family receives a separate sankalp using the Karta, gotra where known, and the names and relationships of the ancestors supplied at checkout.

The ceremony is performed by the pandit and pratinidhi in Gaya. This particular package does not include travel, physical attendance or a live video call. The complete ceremony recording is sent after performance, normally within 72 hours. Families seeking a private or live-participation arrangement should discuss that requirement before selecting the group package.

Prices above were checked on 21 August 2026. The booking page is the final source for current availability and the payable total.

How to choose the right date

Choose Navami when the observance is for female ancestors

Matru Navami is particularly associated with remembering departed mothers and other female members of the family. It may also apply where the known death tithi was Navami. Read the detailed Navami Shraddha guide before deciding.

Choose Ekadashi when the death tithi was Ekadashi

Ekadashi Shraddha is the relevant fixed-date choice where the departed person’s lunar death tithi was Ekadashi. If you know only the Gregorian date but not the tithi, confirm it with a knowledgeable family priest rather than guessing. See the Ekadashi Shraddha explanation.

Choose Sarva Pitru Amavasya when the tithi is unknown or missed

Sarva Pitru Amavasya is the broad observance for known and unknown ancestors and is commonly selected when the precise death tithi is unavailable. It is also the final day of Pitru Paksha. Read the Sarva Pitru Amavasya guide for the context.

Booking from Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur or another MP city

The process is the same throughout Madhya Pradesh because both MP and Gaya follow Indian Standard Time. Your city does not change the package price or the ceremony format.

    1. Select the tithi: compare Navami, Ekadashi and Sarva Pitru Amavasya on the booking page.
    2. Review the exact total: the displayed total includes 5% GST.
    3. Enter the Karta and contact information: provide the required name, WhatsApp number and email carefully.
    4. Add ancestor details: enter the name and relationship for the first ancestor and add more where required, up to the package limit of five.
    5. Complete checkout: your submitted details become part of the booking record used for coordination.
    6. Receive the ceremony record: after the pooja is performed in Gaya, the recording is shared within the stated 72-hour window.

    What to prepare before checkout

    • The Karta’s full name and reliable WhatsApp number
    • Gotra, if known; ask the coordinator if it is not known
    • Each ancestor’s full name and relationship to the Karta
    • The known death tithi, if the family has it
    • A clear agreement within the family about which tithi to select

Do not enter placeholder names merely to finish checkout. The sankalp depends on the information you submit, so it is worth confirming spellings and relationships with senior family members first.

Gaya or Ujjain: which is more suitable for an MP family?

These are not interchangeable products. Ujjain is practical for Madhya Pradesh families who want to travel and personally perform an in-person rite at the Kshipra River under the spiritual association of Mahakaleshwar. The Gaya group option is for a family that specifically wants the ceremony performed in Gaya but cannot travel or attend.

For a balanced decision, read Gaya or Ujjain for Pind Daan: a guide for Madhya Pradesh families. If your family tradition gives a clear instruction, that should take priority over convenience or price.

    Frequently asked questions

Can we join the group ceremony from Bhopal or Indore by video call?

No. This package is performed on your behalf and is not a live-attendance or video-conference service. A complete recording is shared within 72 hours after performance.

Does one booking cover several relatives?

One booking covers one family and up to five ancestors. It does not mean five separate family bookings.

What if we do not know our gotra?

Do not invent one. Provide the information you know and contact the Prayag Pandits team for guidance before completing the booking if the form or ceremony requires clarification.

Can families from smaller MP cities book?

Yes. The online booking process is not restricted to Indore, Bhopal and Jabalpur. Families in Ujjain, Gwalior, Chhindwara, Rewa, Satna, Sagar and other MP locations can use the same booking page.

Is this the same as a private ₹11,000 online Gaya package?

No. The fixed-date group package has a different format, date choice, inclusions and price. Compare the exact service description instead of assuming that all “online Pind Daan” offerings are identical.
