When a loved one passes, Hindu tradition requires that their ashes (asthi) be immersed in a sacred river — ideally the Ganga — to grant the departed soul moksha and release from the cycle of rebirth. This final act of devotion, known as Asthi Visarjan or Asthivissarjan, is one of the most important among the sixteen shodasha samskaras in Hindu dharma.
For many Hindu families living outside India — whether in Malaysia, Singapore, the USA, the UK, Australia, Canada, or the UAE — travelling to India at short notice is simply not possible. Visa delays, work commitments, the expense of flights, or health constraints can stand in the way of fulfilling this sacred duty on time. That is precisely why Prayag Pandits has offered online asthi visarjan since 2019, enabling over 2,263 families across the world to complete this rite through a fully documented, priest-led ceremony at one of India's holiest sites.
You courier the asthi kalash to us. Our experienced tirth purohit performs the complete vidhi — sankalp, asthi puja, immersion at the sacred ghat, and tarpan. You receive a full video recording of the ceremony, along with photographs and a pandit's certificate. No travel required. No compromise on tradition.
The process is straightforward once you understand each step. Here is exactly what happens from the moment you contact us to the moment your loved one's ashes are immersed in the holy river:
One of the most common concerns families have is about safely shipping the ashes across international borders. Here is a practical guide based on the experience of thousands of families we have assisted since 2019.
We recommend using DHL, FedEx, or your country's national postal service (e.g., USPS Priority Mail International, Royal Mail International, Australia Post, Malaysia Post, Singapore Post). DHL has a clear policy on shipping cremation ashes internationally and is the most reliable option in most countries. FedEx and UPS also accept them with the appropriate declaration.
Please note: shipping timelines vary by country. From Malaysia or Singapore, courier packages typically reach our Prayagraj address in 5–10 business days. From the USA, UK, Canada, or Australia, expect 7–14 business days. We advise using a tracked service so you can monitor delivery.
Once you have booked with us and we have confirmed the arrangement, contact us on WhatsApp to share the courier tracking number. We will monitor the delivery and send you a receipt confirmation the day it arrives.
We perform asthi visarjan at four of India's most sacred tirth sthals. Each location carries deep scriptural significance for the departed soul's liberation. Choose the location most meaningful to your family, or ask us for guidance based on your lineage and tradition.
Not sure which location to choose? The Triveni Sangam at Prayagraj is considered the most spiritually potent of all tirth sthals for asthi visarjan — the confluence of three rivers amplifies the merit of the ritual many times over, according to the Prayag Mahatmya in the Matsya Purana. If your family has a tradition of performing last rites at Kashi, Varanasi is the appropriate choice. Call or WhatsApp us to discuss what suits your family best.
Transparency is central to everything we do. When you engage Prayag Pandits for online asthi visarjan, you are not just trusting us with an important ritual — you are trusting us with your family's grief and your loved one's final journey. Here is exactly what we send you after the ceremony is complete:
Online asthi visarjan does not mean a shortened or abbreviated ceremony. The vidhi performed by our tirth purohits is the same complete ritual performed for families who are physically present. Here is what takes place:
We began offering online asthi visarjan in 2019, long before it became widely known. Since then, we have performed the ritual for over 2,263 families from more than 20 countries. Here is what sets us apart:

Hundreds of NRI families contact us every year with specific questions about shipping the asthi kalash from their country. Here is a practical overview for the countries we serve most frequently. For specific guidance, WhatsApp us at +917754097777.
USPS Priority Mail International and FedEx are the most commonly used services. Cremation ashes are legally allowed for international shipping from the USA when accompanied by the cremation certificate and a personal declaration. Shipping time to India is typically 7–14 business days. Many families in the USA choose online asthi visarjan in Varanasi or Prayagraj. We have served families from New York, New Jersey, California, Texas, Toronto, and Vancouver.
Royal Mail International and DHL both accept cremation ashes from the UK for shipping to India. The package must include the death certificate and a letter from the crematorium. Delivery typically takes 5–10 business days. We have served many UK families from London, Leicester, Birmingham, and Manchester. Families from the UK frequently choose online asthi visarjan in Prayagraj for the powerful merit of the Triveni Sangam.
DHL and FedEx are the recommended couriers from Malaysia and Singapore. Shipments from Kuala Lumpur or Singapore typically reach our Prayagraj address within 5–7 business days. Tamil-speaking Hindu families from both countries frequently choose our service — our team can communicate in basic Tamil to put families at ease. We have a dedicated Asthi Visarjan from Malaysia guide and an NRI Asthi Visarjan service page with detailed information specific to Southeast Asian families.
DHL is the most reliable courier from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain. Shipping time is 3–7 business days to India — the shortest transit time of all the regions we serve. Many families in Dubai and Abu Dhabi prefer a combination of asthi visarjan and tarpan, with an urgent turnaround. We often complete the ceremony within 2 days of receipt for Gulf-based families. Pricing in AED is available on request.
Australia Post International and DHL are the standard choices. Australia Post requires a permit to ship cremation ashes internationally — they classify them under "human remains." The relevant form is obtainable at any Australia Post outlet. Transit time is 10–15 business days. We have served families in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth, many of whom have left detailed reviews on our service pages.
We understand that this is not a routine purchase. The decision to perform your loved one's asthi visarjan through an online service requires trust. That trust has been earned across 2,263+ families over six years of dedicated service.

The base Asthi Visarjan package starts at ₹5,100 INR (approximately S$81 SGD at 1 SGD = 63 INR). The premium 2-day/1-night package with hotel and airport transfers costs ₹11,000 (approximately S$175 SGD). All prices are inclusive of pandit, boat, and pooja samagri.
Yes — to reach the actual Triveni Sangam (the confluence point), a boat ride is essential. The Sangam is located roughly 1 km from the shore, where the distinct colours of the Ganga (clear) and Yamuna (darker) visibly meet. Immersion at the shore does not carry the same scriptural merit as immersion at the confluence itself. Boat rides are of two types: shared public boats (₹50-150 per person, 30-45 minutes wait) and private pandit-arranged boats (₹800-2,500 per boat, immediate departure, seats 6-10 people). Our Prayagraj Asthi Visarjan packages include private boat arrangement, trained pandit on the boat, and the complete scriptural vidhi performed at the exact Sangam point with video documentation.
After every Pind Daan ceremony performed by Prayag Pandits, you receive: (1) a full set of photographs from the ceremony showing the ghat, the materials, and the pandit performing the ritual; (2) a video recording of key moments including the Sankalp recitation; (3) a written summary noting the date, location, pandit's name, ancestors included in the Sankalp, and rituals performed; and (4) a formal certificate of ceremony completion upon request. This documentation is particularly valuable for NRI families who wish to share the record with extended family members in India.
