Can a married daughter perform Pratipada Shradh for her maternal grandparents?
Traditionally, the eldest son or grandson from the maternal side performs Pratipada Shradh. However, if no male heir is available, a married daughter or her husband can perform it with proper guidance from a learned pandit. The Garuda Purana and Matsya Purana both acknowledge that sincere devotion matters more than gender in Shradh rites. In modern practice, many families at Prayagraj perform Pratipada Shradh through their daughters when sons are unavailable or live abroad.
