What special offerings are made during Matru Navami?

Matru Navami carries special offerings that reflect the mother’s nurturing role. The Brahmin bhoj typically includes the deceased mother’s favourite dishes (if known), along with traditional items like kheer, puri, seasonal vegetables, and fruits. Many families also offer a new saree or cloth (vastra daan) to a Brahmin woman as a symbolic offering to the departed mother. Flowers — especially white and yellow — are offered during the pinda ceremony. At Prayagraj, families often float flower arrangements on the Sangam as a final tribute.
