I came across this service online while searching for pind daan in gaya and i would highly recommend these guys. After booking, I just had to wait for the date of pind daan. They made all the arrangements in gaya themselves. They shared the zoom meeting link. I just had to join and listen to the pandit during the ceremony. Another person was sitting on behalf of me for doing the pooja. Within an hour the pooja was completed. I was thoroughly satisfied. Good pandit, good ethics and great team. I recommend these people.

Online Pind Daan in Gaya: participate from home

Participate in Pind Daan in Gaya from your home through a live video call. A pandit performs the ceremony with your family’s Sankalpa and ancestral details, with samagri included. This ceremony is available beyond Pitrupaksha too, with your preferred date and timing confirmed by our team.

The included location is Vishnupad Area or Phalgu Area. This is not a package covering every sacred site in Gaya. Please discuss the location, expected duration and your family’s requirements with our team before booking if these are important to your arrangements.

Pitrupaksha 2026 runs from September 26 to October 10. Hindu families traditionally observe this period with ancestral rites, remembrance and offerings. Gaya holds a special place in these traditions, associated with Vishnupad and the Phalgu River.

The base package is ₹11,000 per pooja. The date-specific package rate for 10 October 2026 is ₹16,500. Applicable taxes and optional additions are shown in your booking. Tarpan, Brahmin Bhoj and Gau Daan are not included in the base package. Read the inclusions and exclusions before selecting any additional arrangements.

What Is Pind Daan and How Is It Different from Tarpan

Pind Daan and Tarpan are both ancestral rites, but they are distinct ceremonies serving distinct purposes. Understanding the difference helps families make the right choice for their specific situation.

Tarpan — The Offering of Water

Tarpan is the offering of water — typically mixed with sesame seeds and sometimes with flowers or milk — to the ancestors while reciting their names and specific mantras. It is a regular ritual that can be performed daily, on Amavasya, during Pitrupaksha, or on the death anniversary of an ancestor. Tarpan nourishes the subtle body of the ancestor, keeping them sustained in the realms they currently inhabit. It is an ongoing act of care — like providing regular food and water to someone living far away.

Pind Daan — The Offering of Pindas

Pind Daan is a deeper and more complete ceremony. The pinda — a ball formed from cooked rice, sesame, honey, milk, and other sacred ingredients — represents a subtle body offered to the ancestor. The Vedic understanding is that when this pinda is offered with correct mantras and intention at a powerful sacred site, it provides the ancestor with a form through which they can receive the full force of the offering and, at sites like Gaya, achieve liberation from the cycle of rebirth.

In the traditions associated with Gaya, offering pindas is understood as an act of remembrance and prayer for the ancestors’ peace and spiritual welfare. The significance of these rites is a matter of religious belief and family tradition.

Families may observe Pind Daan and Tarpan according to their tradition and the guidance of their pandit. For this booking, Tarpan is a separate ceremony and is not included; contact our team if you also need it arranged.

Why Gaya Holds a Unique Position for Pind Daan

Gaya in Bihar is the site most associated with Pind Daan in all of Hindu tradition. Lord Vishnu’s footprint is enshrined at the Vishnupad Temple here, and the Gaya Mahatmya texts describe how Lord Vishnu himself promised that ancestors offered pindas at Gaya would receive liberation. The Phalgu River at Gaya, though often partially dry, holds the sacred power described in the Ramayana — it is at the Phalgu that Lord Rama himself is said to have performed Pind Daan for his father King Dasharatha.

Gaya has several sacred Vedis, including locations associated with Vishnupad and the Phalgu River. This background should not be confused with the coverage of this package: the included ceremony is at Vishnupad Area or Phalgu Area. For other locations or a multi-site arrangement, please discuss a suitable package with our team.

During Pitrupaksha, many families visit Gaya for ancestral rites. An online ceremony allows families who cannot travel to participate remotely in the arrangements made for them.

Pitrupaksha 2026 — Key Dates and Why This Period Matters

Pitrupaksha 2026 begins on September 26 with the Purnima Shradh and concludes on October 10 with Sarva Pitru Amavasya, the most significant day of the entire fortnight. During these fifteen days:

  • Matru Navami falls on October 4 — the prescribed day for mothers and all female ancestors
  • Sarva Pitru Amavasya on October 10 — the day for all ancestors, particularly those whose tithi is unknown
  • Each of the fifteen days corresponds to a specific tithi (lunar date), and ancestors who departed on that tithi receive the maximum benefit from rites performed on the corresponding Pitrupaksha day

Share your preferred date and time slot at checkout. Our team confirms the final arrangements. If you need a particular location, ceremony duration or time because of travel or your time zone, contact us before booking. The special rate for 10 October is shown above and applied when that date is selected.

How the Online Ceremony Works

The online format removes the barrier of distance while preserving every element of the ceremony’s spiritual integrity. Here is the complete process:

  • Choose this pooja, review your cart and provide your contact details, preferred date and time slot at checkout. Share ancestral details if available; our team follows up on the ceremony requirements.
  • A ceremony date is confirmed based on your ancestors’ tithis and your preference
  • A video call link is sent to you in advance — compatible with WhatsApp, Zoom, or Google Meet
  • On the ceremony day, the pandit prepares the samagri at the arranged location in Gaya.
  • The video call connects you live from the moment of preparation through the completion of the ceremony
  • The sankalpa is declared with your name and each ancestor’s name spoken aloud at the sacred Vedi
  • All Pind Daan steps — pinda preparation, offering, immersion — are performed with full mantra recitation
  • The pandit explains each step in Hindi or English as the ceremony proceeds
  • A recorded meeting is available via Google Meet or Zoom only, delivered within 72 hours. A full recording is not promised for WhatsApp calls.

Preparing for the Ceremony

To ensure the ceremony proceeds smoothly and that your ancestors are honoured correctly, please prepare the following before our team contacts you:

  • Full names of the ancestors to be included (father, mother, grandparents, great-grandparents where known)
  • Gotra of your family lineage, if known
  • Hindu calendar tithi of departure for each ancestor, if available
  • Your own name and gotra for the sankalpa declaration

If any of this information is not available, do not be concerned — our pandits are experienced in working with families where some details are unknown. The sankalpa can be constructed to include all known and unknown ancestors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Pind Daan at Gaya different from Pind Daan at Prayagraj or Varanasi?

All three are among the most sacred Pind Daan sites in Hindu tradition, but Gaya is specifically described in the scriptures as the most powerful for ancestral liberation. The Gaya Mahatmya texts and references in the Mahabharata describe how Lord Vishnu himself granted liberation to ancestors offered pindas at Gaya. The combination of Vishnupad’s presence and the specific sanctity of the Gaya Kshetra makes it uniquely powerful. Prayagraj is exceptional for Pind Daan at the Sangam; Gaya is exceptional for the depth of liberation it grants to the specific souls being offered pindas.

Can this ceremony include ancestors from both the paternal and maternal lineage?

Yes. Both paternal and maternal ancestors can be included in a single Gaya Pind Daan ceremony. The sankalpa is structured to address both lineages. Many families specifically choose the comprehensive Gaya package for this reason — the ability to honour ancestors from both sides of the family in one ceremony is particularly valuable during Pitrupaksha.

We have never performed Pind Daan for our grandparents. Is it too late?

It is never too late to perform Pind Daan for ancestors. The scriptures contain no provision for a time limit on this duty — in fact, the Pind Daan performed after a long delay, with genuine remorse and sincere intention, is described as equally powerful to one performed immediately after death. The soul of your grandparent receives the offering whenever it is made. What matters is the intention and the correct performance of the ceremony.

What is the significance of performing Pind Daan specifically during Pitrupaksha rather than at another time?

During Pitrupaksha, the Pitra Devatas — the divine custodians of ancestral welfare — are understood to be particularly accessible and attentive. The fortnight is specifically set aside for ancestral rites in the Hindu calendar, and the combined attention of countless families performing ceremonies simultaneously creates an amplified spiritual field. Pind Daan at Gaya is powerful at any time of year, but during Pitrupaksha, the conjunction of sacred timing and sacred location creates optimal conditions for ancestral liberation.

We are a family based abroad. Can we participate in the ceremony at a convenient time given the time difference?

Share your time zone and preferred date and time slot when booking. Our team confirms the ceremony arrangements; your preferred slot is a request rather than a guaranteed start time. If you need a recording, use Google Meet or Zoom: the recorded meeting is delivered within 72 hours. A full recording is not promised for WhatsApp calls. For technical help, call +91 8353999366.

What happens if I cannot connect to the video call?

Contact your coordinator or call +91 8353999366 for technical help. Discuss your connection and participation requirements before the ceremony. Recording availability depends on the chosen platform: Google Meet or Zoom only, within 72 hours.

Can I attend in person instead?

This product is for remote participation. For physical attendance, see our Pind Daan in Gaya package for visiting families. For different arrangements, see the Gaya Pind Daan packages and guide.
