The Gaya Pind Daan Gau Daan package (Platinum) is our most complete guided arrangement for one family. It covers the full Pind Daan and Tarpan at Gaya by an experienced Gayawal pandit, a dedicated Shradh Pooja, a Brahmin Bhoj and Gau Daan — the gifting of a cow on behalf of the ancestors — with a premium stay and private transfers.
Why perform Pind Daan at Gaya
Gaya is revered as the supreme tirtha for pitru moksha — the liberation of ancestors. Its sanctity is established in the Vayu Purana and Agni Purana (Gaya Mahatmya) and in the Garuda Purana. The Gaya Mahatmya guides the rite across three sacred sites:
- Phalgu river — where Tarpan (water libations) begins; the Phalgu is revered as the liquid form of Adigadadhara (Vishnu).
- Vishnupad temple — enshrining the footprint of Lord Vishnu; offering pindas here releases the ancestors.
- Akshayavat — the undying banyan, where the shraddha concludes for imperishable merit.
Performing the rite at Gaya fulfils a sacred filial debt and grants the departed lasting peace — which is why families travel here from across India and abroad.

How your package is performed
The pandit performs Tarpan at the Phalgu river, then the full Pind Daan and Shradh at the Akshayavat within the premises of the Vishnupad temple, followed by the Shradh Pooja, Brahmin Bhoj and Gau Daan. Every step follows the Gaya Mahatmya vidhi, with all samagri and logistics arranged for your family.

Your stay, travel and confirmation
Your stay is a one-night hotel booking for two guests on a room-only (European Plan) basis; meals, train or flight tickets to and from Varanasi and personal expenses are not included. A private sedan handles your Gaya transfers from Varanasi and local movement on the ceremony day. After you book, our team confirms your dates, collects the family names and gotra for the sankalp, and shares the pandit and itinerary details. Photographs are shared with your family afterwards, so relatives who could not travel can still witness the ceremony.

When is the best time for Pind Daan in Gaya?
Pitru Paksha is the most auspicious window, but Pind Daan and Tarpan at Gaya can be performed on any day through the year.
Who can perform this rite?
Any family member observing the ancestral rites may perform it; our pandit guides every step of the sankalp and offerings.
Do I need to bring any samagri?
No — all pooja samagri for the Pind Daan, Tarpan and shraddha is arranged for you, so nothing needs to be sourced in advance.
How long does the Pind Daan at Gaya take?
The core rite is typically completed within a single morning; the package stay covers one night so your family can travel and rest comfortably around it.
Can families who cannot travel still book this?
This is an in-person package performed at Gaya, but if you are unable to attend we also offer online Pind Daan options with live video.
