A ceremony your family can follow

What happens after you choose the seva

  • Your family details are confirmedThe Karta’s name, gotra if known, ancestor names, relationships and requested day are checked privately.

  • The tirtha and time are coordinatedThe suitable Indian ceremony time and your corresponding local time are shared before the rite.

  • Your Sankalp is recitedYour family joins via live video conferencing while the pandit invokes the agreed names and lineage.

  • The selected rite is completedThe pandit performs the Tarpan or Shradh inclusions stated in your chosen package at the sacred location.

A traditional reminder: the Skanda Purana’s Nagara Khanda places shraddha—sincere, reverent remembrance—at the heart of ancestral offerings. Live video conferencing is simply a present-day way for a family abroad to witness the India-based ceremony; it is not presented as a scriptural prescription.

“Being in the USA, travelling to India just for Tarpan during Pitru Paksha was becoming very difficult. Prayag Pandits offered a well-coordinated solution.”

Guidance for families abroad

Questions to consider before you choose

Every family carries its own tradition. Read these answers slowly, and keep any special family custom ready to share during coordination.

How does Online Tarpan work for a family living abroad?

A local pandit performs the Tarpan physically at the selected sacred river or ghat. Your family’s names, gotra if known, and the ancestors being remembered are included in the Sankalp. Your family joins from abroad via live video conferencing and follows the pandit’s guidance.

Should our family choose Tarpan or Shradh?

Choose Tarpan when your family has specifically planned the water and sesame offering for the Pitrs. Choose Shradh when the annual or Pitru Paksha observance in your tradition calls for the fuller rite, including the additional offerings named in that package. When an elder or family priest has given clear guidance, follow that first.

Which sacred place should we choose?

Begin with the tirtha remembered in your family tradition: Gaya, Kashi, Haridwar, Garh Ganga or a fuller Prayagraj arrangement. If no place has been prescribed, compare the package inclusions calmly and choose the place with which your family feels a genuine connection.

What if we do not know the gotra or exact death tithi?

Share only what your family knows. The pandit will explain how an unknown gotra is handled and help you understand a suitable day. When the exact tithi is not known, Sarva Pitru Amavasya may be considered with the pandit’s guidance.

Can relatives join from more than one country?

Yes, subject to the confirmed live video conferencing arrangement. Appoint one family coordinator and share the countries involved during coordination, so the Indian ceremony time and the corresponding local times can be communicated clearly.

What should our family keep ready?

Keep the Karta’s name, gotra if known, the names and relationships of the ancestors, your preferred date, and one family contact ready. On the day, sit in a quiet place with a steady internet connection and follow the pandit with a peaceful mind.
