How It Works for Families Abroad

The process from first contact to ritual completion is four steps. There are no hidden steps, no intermediaries, and no moment where you are left wondering what actually happened.

Tell us the name of the departed, the ritual you need (Pind Daan, Asthi Visarjan, Shradh, Tarpan, or Narayan Bali), and your preferred city or tirtha. We respond within minutes during 7 AM – 9 PM IST, seven days a week. Our team communicates in English, Hindi, and Tamil.
2. Provide the ritual details. We need the departed person’s name, your gotra (ancestral lineage), date of passing, and your relationship to the deceased. If you do not know your gotra, that is not a problem — we use a saamaanya (universal) procedure that is fully valid per the Vedic tradition. No information is judged, no family situation is turned away.
3. We confirm date, time, and payment. We schedule the ritual on an auspicious muhurat and send you a calendar invite and WhatsApp reminder. Payment is accepted in Indian Rupees via international card, SWIFT bank transfer, Wise (TransferWise), or UPI. We send a written payment confirmation immediately.
4. Watch the ceremony live. Asthi Visarjan by Courier — How to Send Ashes from Abroad

This is one of the most important services we offer, and the one that removes the single biggest barrier for NRI families: you do not need to carry the ashes in person. We have received Asthi Kalash (urns containing cremated remains) from the USA, UK, Canada, UAE, Mauritius, and Singapore, and performed the complete Asthi Visarjan at Triveni Sangam with live video.

The step-by-step process:

1. Contact us first, before you pack anything. We send you our Prayagraj address and specific packing instructions. Packing the Asthi Kalash incorrectly can lead to it being stopped at customs. Do not attempt to ship without our guidance.
2. Pack the ashes correctly. Use a sealed, leak-proof container inside a sturdy outer box. Double-bag the ash remains inside the container. Label the outer package clearly: “Religious Artefact — Human Cremation Ashes — For Religious Immersion Ceremony.” Enclose a copy of the death certificate and cremation certificate inside the package.
3. Choose the right courier. For international shipments: DHL, FedEx, or UPS are the reliable options. India Post (SAL or EMS) works for some countries. Declare the contents truthfully on the customs form — human cremation ashes are legal to import into India for religious purposes. We can advise on country-specific customs requirements if needed.
4. Share the tracking number with us. We monitor the shipment and contact you the moment it arrives at our Prayagraj address, confirming receipt with a photograph of the sealed package before anything is opened.
5. We schedule the poojan. We select an auspicious muhurat, provide you with the date and Zoom/WhatsApp join link, and perform the complete Asthi Visarjan at Triveni Sangam — Sankalp in the departed’s name and gotra, Pind Daan, Tarpan, and the Visarjan itself. You watch it live.

Live Video Ceremony — What You Will Actually See

We understand that “live video” can mean very different things. Here is exactly what the video call involves, so there are no surprises on the day.

The ritual is conducted at the actual ghat — Triveni Sangam for Prayagraj services, Manikarnika or Assi Ghat for Varanasi, Vishnupad or Falgu for Gaya. The pandit carries a mobile phone or is assisted by a colleague holding the camera. The call is on WhatsApp video or Zoom — your choice.

What you see, in sequence:

• Sankalp. The pandit formally declares the ritual intention — your name, the departed person’s name, your gotra, the date, and the specific tirtha. This is the moment the ritual is anchored to your family and the specific soul you are performing it for. You can repeat the Sankalp by voice from your location, or simply witness it.
• Puja preparations. You see the offerings laid out — rice, black sesame seeds (til), kusha grass, ganga jal, flowers. The camera shows the river and the ghat clearly so you know exactly where you are.
• Mantras. The pandit recites the prescribed Vedic mantras with full pronunciation. You can hear them clearly. If you want a printed copy of the mantras in advance, we send them to you.
• Pind offerings or Tarpan water offerings. Depending on your service (Pind Daan or Tarpan), you watch the rice ball offerings or the water and sesame offerings being made, with your name and gotra recited for each.
• Immersion or conclusion. For Asthi Visarjan, you watch the ashes enter the confluence. For Pind Daan, you watch the final immersion of the pindas. For Tarpan, the water offerings are completed and Shanti prayers spoken.

Duration: 30–45 minutes for Tarpan or Shradh; 45–75 minutes for Pind Daan; 60–90 minutes for Asthi Visarjan; 3–4 hours for Narayan Bali.
